I’ve been writing some stuff for a novel of my own and I randomly came across this website, I Write Like, where you input some paragraphs of your writing and it analyzes which famous author you write like. Apparently, I write like H. P. Lovecraft, which I found very surprising. Really fucking cool, but still surprising.

I’m familiar with some of the stuff he’s written, mostly because of pop culture and really who on the internet doesn’t know who Cthulhu is at this point, but I’ve never actually read any of his works beyond a paragraph or two. I was always kind of distracted when I started reading his stuff and so wasn’t able to finish any of his works even though I have a book of his short stories.

I had been talking to a friend for about 20 minutes when she told me that she had a twelve hour shift in the morning. I told her that she needed to just hang up on me and go to bed. I was saying goodbye when the call cuts out. Initially, I thought she hung up on me and thought it was joke on me because I told her to hang up on me. A minute later she sends me a text saying “lol wtf.”

It’s odd. I know that my mom has never lied to me, about anything serious at any rate. And I don’t think she ever would. Yet, when she randomly told me she thought I was beautiful, I could not believe her. She wasn’t lying to me, but I found that I didn’t agree with her. Now, don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean I think I’m ugly. I don’t at all, but I have never considered myself pretty or beautiful. That got me thinking about the nature of society’s obsession with looks.

But then I thought “Nah, it’s one in the morning. It’s way too late and too early to be thinking so philosophically.” So I decided to go back to what I was thinking about before my mom said that.

What would a high five with feet be called? We have five toes, so by rights it should still be a high five, but that doesn’t sound right to me for some reason.

This was written by a little 6 year old girl. I babysit her and her two sisters - Rebecca and Mia, and before they go to bed they all sit down and write little prayers to God.

This was the one that Hollie wrote last time, and it absolutely broke my heart. I mean, she’s six years old and she thinks she’s not beautiful. That’s not right. But she is beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. She’s got golden blonde hair, bright green eyes and a smile so beautiful that you melt a little inside when you see it.

When their mum got home, I showed her Hollie’s prayer, and she was devestated. She’s a nurse so she’s seen a lot of horrible things, but I have never seen her like that. And so I had to do something.

If you’re reading this, and if you have the slightest bit of a heart, please reblog this, so that I can prove to Hollie that she is beautiful, and that she is so special, and that God made her exactly the way she is because He knows that He made her perfect. Please give this beautiful little girl the confidence she deserves.

This makes me really sad, not just because of this little girl, and all the other little girls who feel this way. I’m sad because in our society accidents of birth like how high your cheek bones are and hair color become elevated as soon as we begin social interactions. The traits have already been categorized into beautiful or not beautiful and these little traits we can’t control completely define our self worth. Even little girls who should just be learning how to read, and count, and be nice are so focused on beauty. Because even at 6, they know it’s the first thing others notice, and it’s something to strive and pray for.

I think I might have had just made the best typo ever. I was about to go to tickld just to have an excuse to stay up later. I thought I had typed in t i c and had hit enter thinking that it had autofilled in the rest of the website in address bar. Instead, I had accidentally typed in t i v. I was only momentarily annoyed because I learned that a tiv is an actual thing. And a pretty awesome thing at that.

TIV, or Tornado Interception Vehicle, is pretty much a suped up truck that allows for the inside of tornadoes to be filmed with IMAX cameras. It was designed by Sean Casey, an IMAX director. TIV 1 took about 8 months to build, cost $81000, and weighs about 16500 pounds. The TIV 1 has a top speed of 80 mph. The TIV 2 addressed issues with low ground clearance, a lack of 4 wheel drive and relatively low top speed (I don’t know. 80 mph for a 16500 pound car sounds pretty good to me). The upped the top speed to over 100 mph.

I felt like I have too much time on my hands so I decided to start playing a Pokemon game. I went with Pokemon Platinum because I’ve never played that one before. Whenever I do the first run through of a Pokemon game, I always give the Pokemon nicknames (until after I’ve caught like ten Pokemon and I get annoyed with having to come up with something). Now usually I start with normal names, like Marla or Jackson. I did that with the first couple, then I’m like nah that’s just too boring. So I decided that I’ll come up with names that have part of the Pokemon name in it. Like for Starly, I did Starshine. I’m just so clever, aren’t I? Anyway, I came across a Bidoof, which I’ve already caught, but I wanted to flex my imagination muscles and make up a nickname. I balked at first, thinking that Bidoof is so boring! That’s how I came up with Bidoring.

Let’s that sink in. I combined Bidoof and boring. Bidoring.

I’ve never been more disappointed in myself in my life.
